Young Riders 2005
walterydress.jpg
At young riders, which was our first long format CCI *, we got the individual bronze. Our team (Area 1) was in first after dressage with me individually in sixth, but unfortunatley, many of the team members had falls on cross country day and we ended up in sixth as a team. Young riders was one of the best experiences in my life as it really made me look at teamwork and I realized that the long format event is much better for Walter than the short format. Our score for the week was: 53.8 dressage, 0 steeplechase, 0 cross country, 4 show jumping to leave us with a 57.8 with the individual bronze medal.
2005

2006 brought some great success with with a 3rd and a 1st at Poplar Place at premlinary as well as a 4th at Spring Bay. At intermediate I had a 4th at Pine Top a 5th at River Glen and a 7th at the Virginia three day Intermediate 2*. We were also 9th in the Maui Jim CIC**.

NAYRC 2006 was another great experience. This year, I rode for area VIII at the CCI**. He had a decent dressage test, but got distracted in the long walk, and spun through his turn on the haunches. Walter was running great cross country, and unfortunatley tripped up a bank, therefore having a stop at the bounce out. The rest of the course was great with no time. The tough show jump course rode well, and we finished very happily.

2007 has had an interesting start. We did the intermediate at Poplar which went great. Walter and I then decided to move up to advanced at the Fork. However, after dressage he had a very slight amount of swelling in a hind leg. Rather than worry about him while running cross country, I decided not to run and go home. Of course, when we got home there was nothing on the ultrasound and the swelling was gone. I rode a few young horses at a jumper show that Sunday,  came off one and tore my acl and broke my tibial plateau in my knee. Walter is at dressage camp with Susan while I'm off, and we will be back at the show scene next year. What a short year, I feel jipped.

Well, here we go with 2008. Walter was great at Poplar in November. I was finally ready to ride and couldn't wait until February to get out. I had to run. We did prelim, and although he was a little hot cross country and I literally had to halt out on course to get his attention back, he was fantastic. We ran an intermediate, again at Poplar in February. Again, Walter was in his true form, doing well, having one rail and ending up in fourth.

I had to take a hiatus with my knee but Walter and I will be back.

2009 brought a 5th at Rocking Horse and a 7th at Prelim at Poplar. Just taking it slow for the start of the season. Oh those time penalties!
